We are excited to share that the webinar presentation, ‘Reimagining the Good Life: A Pluriversal Perspective on Community Well-being in Australia,’ delivered by Dr S A Hamed Hosseini, during Social Science Week 2024, is now available for viewing on YouTube!

The webinar was co-hosted by the University of Newcastle (UON) and the New Economy Network Australia (NENA) and chaired by Dr. Michelle Maloney, Director of NENA.

🌏 About the Webinar: The presentation shared the first set of findings from our “Reimagining Quality of Life Post-COVID19” research project, which commenced in 2021. Funded by the College of Human and Social Futures at UON and supported by NENA as our community partner, this research focuses on redefining community well-being from a pluriversal perspective, exploring diverse understandings of quality of life in Australia.

Throughout the presentation, insights from a nationwide social survey of a sample of civil society organizations and grassroots groups were discussed. Interesting statistical tools and social network visualizations were also utilized and made accessible to a broader audience, including those not familiar with these methods.

The findings reveal exciting shifts in how transformative initiatives prioritize societal well-being and sustainability in post-COVID Australia and how we can envision a future that moves beyond the anthropocentric, economistic, utilitarian, and even post-GDP reformist perspectives.
